L’Eroica is the oldest vintage cycle race in the world. The randonnée takes place over tarmac and dirt roads of the Chianti district of Tuscany and many participants ride the event on vintage bicycles, dressed in vintage gear.
The Milan San Remo pro race is one of the monumental classic 1 day races in the professional calendar. The race is organised by the the Italian sports newspaper Gazetta dello Sport, the same people who organize the Giro d’Italia.
The Gran Fondo Campagnolo is a similar to the Etape du Tour, and is another mass ride organised by Campagnolo, held in the Southern Dolomites. The terrain is mountainous , but there is a choice of distances from 92 – 208km. The Gran Fondo Campagnolo was featured in the September 1998 issue of Cycle Sport.

Needless to say Ventoux is in France not Italy! Don’t know the Sportive but I have climbed Ventoux from Bedoin. 21km with a relentless 10% gradient. Makes AlpeD’Huez seem like a strole in the park! If you beat two hours you are doing OK.
